The porch is as scraped as it is going to be. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is predicting rain on and off, so we hurried yesterday and got a coat on before the pitter-patter of rain drops. Today, not so much. While Kevin was out getting the primer, the sky opened up and loud claps of thunder followed. Oh, well. A lazy Saturday with a party tonight...sounds good to me :)
A little bit of this, a pinch of that, a bay leaf (or two). Add in some nails, a gallon of paint and some saw dust.
Trying to beat the rain...

And the walls were BLOWN OFF...
...well, not really, but it would have been cool!
Today we decided that things might move a touch faster if we took the nicely hinged frames (which function as walls when the screens are attached) off. So, after some hammering and crow-barring, they came off. The porch now functions as a deck--kind of.

Re-vamping the porch

Yesterday was such a nice day, I took advantage of that and worked on scraping the porch floor. As I sat cross-legged, listening to whatever tune our computer selected, I was graced by the subtle sweetness of lilac. I thought about what this porch has witnessed and what it will. What coat of paint will be added on top of the already dark green, light green and beige? White, red, yellow, green, blue...what to do, what to do.
When Kevin came home, he took out the rest of the existing screens (not quite in the same style Jon did). Now, our porch is waiting to be finished scraped and then primed. If only the weather and jobs didn't get in the way...
Enough with the inside...how about the outside
This weekend was a very productive weekend of work. Although some may not recognize it, gigantic progress has been made. We have the exposed wall beams leveled, sheet rock is going up, the walls are insulated. The bathroom is even starting to look like a real room Yeah....progress is a great thing.
Now onto the outside. There have not been many pictures from the outside. So here it is....,
The long awaited clothesline.
New stove :)
